23. Tiger Woods, Stanford Cardinal

From the days of Jim Harbaugh to the current era under David Shaw, the Stanford Cardinal football team has enjoyed a bit of a renaissance in the 2000s. They always have somewhat of an uphill battle in regards to recruiting given the academic standards their students are held to, but they have succeeded nonetheless. And perhaps their most famous athlete in school history has been there to support them through this: Tiger Woods.

Interestingly enough, Woods has a strong connection with the Stanford football team in its current form, specifically as it pertains to Shaw, the team’s head coach. Woods and Shaw actually had class together while they both attended Stanford in the 1990s. Talk about a small world, but one that’s obviously filled with athletic success in this regard.

Woods, of course, wasn’t as prominent as a Stanford football fan for a brief time in the late 2000s and early 2010s due to his professional and personal struggles, but the Cardinal alum has come around in a big way as of late and has really tried to rebuild his ties to the school and football program as a fan as he’s also gotten his personal and professional lives back on track.

Speaking of, Woods finished off his comeback 2018 season on the PGA Tour with a win at the Tour Championship in Atlanta and is looking for more success in the 2019 season. Come September 2019, perhaps the Cardinal will have Woods on the sidelines after the golfing legend has gotten another major championship under his belt.
