FanSided is tearing it up in the Super Bowl media department, bringing unparalleled coverage of Super Bowl 53. Here’s video proof.

As Super Bowl media week continues, FanSided continues to bring incredible coverage of all of the events down in Atlanta. All of the events can be seen by following FanSided on Twitter or visiting FanSided.com/NFL.

Most recently, FanSided’s own golden child Mark Carman took to the two-minute drill to demonstrate what pure athleticism looks like (and make me eat my words from a previous post). Watch this, in all its glory:

Let’s give Carman the old NFL combine treatment and grade his performance:

Passing – Carman isn’t as accurate as Tom Brady or Jared Goff, the two NFL passers competing in the Super Bowl this week, but he’s far more accurate than anyone who played for the Washington Redskins in place of an injured Alex Smith this season. He’s also flat-out better than Matt Ryan, who everyone says is elite because he can throw 1-yard slants to possibly the best receiving group in the NFL.

The mechanics are okay, considering he’s throwing the ball in a suit jacket. Mark’s an old school guy, so look for John Gruden to get on the phone and having him running the old Spider 2 Y Banana for the Raiders practice squad next season. A-

Kick returning – Carman may not be the fastest guy on the football field, but he successfully breaks the tackles of three sets of large practice dummies. His footwork needs a bit of work, but the fundamentals are there. What I’m saying is, he knows how to run. B+

Kicking – Here’s the true redemption story. I ripped Carman for missing a 19-yard FG short when practicing with Cody Parkey a while back. As a professional journalist, I have to uphold my integrity and admit when I am wrong. Watching Carman bang home this, we’ll say 50-yard bomb, I was wrong about his abilities.

Perhaps the problem was Parkey. As we now know, the ex-Bears kicker has had some issues with pressure kicks (I know, it was tipped), but Carman has clearly been practicing, as he makes this one look easy. I highly doubt any of the children in the video made this kick, so take that, kids! A+

40 Yard Dash – While Mark’s time isn’t impressive, he turns it on when it matters. A win is a win, right? Like famous sprinter Usain Bolt, Carman takes a slower approach to the start, building up speed and power as he rumbles down the last 10 yards and crushes the hopes of these 10-year-old kids who thought they had a chance. B+

In the end, Carman showed resilience, an old-school mentality and good old fashioned grit. If we’re drafting for a league of 10-year-olds, he’s easily a late first round pick. Likely three or four picks behind Jimmy, that 10-year-old kid with a mustache that you swear is at least 16.
