Top 10 favorites to win Super Bowl 54

We might still be a year away from Super Bow LIV, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to start thinking about who could make it there.

Super Bowl LIII between the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams is currently on the minds of every football fan. Super Bowl LIV, which will take place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, is still a year away.

But even so, it’s never too soon to start thinking about next year’s version of the Big Game. Which teams are best set up to make it to next year’s Super Bowl? Who is the best bet to win the next Lombardi Trophy?

Football never sleeps, even during the long offseason that stretches from February to September. And even though Super Bowl LIII is on our hands right now, let’s take a minute to check out the top 10 favorites for Super Bowl LIV.

And keep in mind, this is just one writer’s way-too-early opinion, and may (and probably will) vary from yours.

Real quick, a few honorable mentions in no particular order: Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers, and Houston Texans.

These are all teams that belong in the Super Bowl contender conversation, but will probably need a little bit of luck to fall their way in order to make it to Super Bowl LIV. Whether it be in the quarterback department, or the defense department, or coaching department, or any other possible department, these teams all have things to address before making a legitimate Super Bowl run.

10. Philadelphia Eagles

Here is the good news for the Philadelphia Eagles: they will be a Super Bowl contender no matter which route they decide to take at the quarterback position. They have both Carson Wentz and Nick Foles at their disposal, two guys who have both proven to be capable NFL quarterbacks.

Wentz has shown MVP-type talent, and Foles is a former Super Bowl MVP. The only question is which quarterback do they want to move forward with? Will the other be traded?

The solution that makes the most sense for the Eagles is Wentz. He’s younger, is a former No. 2 overall pick, and has shown signs of greatness in the past. It’s hard to imagine Philadelphia cutting ties with a young quarterback that still has nearly his entire career ahead of him, especially one with Wentz’ skillset.

But Foles is the guy that has come through for them multiple times in the postseason, even winning them a Super Bowl. Considering he has essentially become a folk here in the city, Eagles fans would be sad to see him go.

Regardless of which quarterback is starting for them in 2019, the Eagles will have a solid anchor under center, and they will have a legitimate chance at a second Super Bowl appearance in three years.
