Alabama Football: Grading the Crimson Tide 2019 recruiting class
The Alabama Crimson Tide football dynasty under Nick Saban never ceases to stop rolling, and that’s certainly the case with their 2019 recruiting class.
Most college football fans thought that the Alabama Crimson Tide were an unstoppable juggernaut as they went into the National Championship Game. Not only were they stopped by Clemson in the title game, though, but they were completely shut down in almost embarrassing fashion. Now the Tide will try to remedy the mistakes that were made and not lose their stranglehold on college football as a whole.
One of the biggest reasons, of course, that Alabama football has been a dynasty under Nick Saban has been the coach’s ability to recruit. Year after year, the Crimson Tide have been bringing in the top recruits in the country and just making a roster littered with high-caliber athletes and players and tremendous depth.
To the shock of no one, that is again the case with their 2019 recruiting class entering National Signing Day. The Tide entered National Signing Day with the top-ranked recruiting class in the country, per 247 Sports’ composite rankings. And the star of their class is strongside defensive end Antonio Alfano, the fifth-ranked player in the country. Losing Christian Miller and defensive talent up front, Alfano could see rotational snaps early on in Tuscaloosa.
There are more top-notch players in the 2019 recruiting class that could see early time. With Damien Harris and Josh Jacobs departing, 5-star running back Trey Sanders could get early carries for the Tide. Meanwhile, Sanders’ high school teammate, offensive tackle Evan Neal, could get some reps on the line with several Alabama offensive linemen leaving for the NFL.
On top of that, the Tide entered National Signing Day with some more big fish to grab, eying two more top-50 overall players in linebacker Henry To’oto’o and defensive tackle Ishmael Sopsher. Did they get their guys? How does their class grade out? Take a look at the full 2019 class and find out.

It’s never truly about needing to fill holes when it comes to Alabama, but rather just about reloading and continuing to stockpile top-tier players. Having said that, Saban and the Crimson Tide have once again managed to do that at the highest level. They have the highest-ranked recruiting class in the country, so how can you give them anything other than an A+? Put simply, you can’t.
