The Oklahoma Sooners biggest incoming player may be transfer Jalen Hurts, but their 2019 recruiting class will help their future greatly as well.

The Oklahoma Sooners enter the 2019 offseason and the recruiting fires having played in the last two instances of the College Football Playoff. Having said that, they’ve not been able to get over the hump just yet under head coach Lincoln Riley, having not won in either of their semifinal CFP matchups to this point. There’s no denying that things are still quite good in Norman right now, though.

That’s only likely to continue when you look at their 2019 recruiting class. After Riley brought in a top-10 class in 2018, he’s upped the ante this year as his incoming group is one of the five best in the country entering National Signing Day, boasting three 5-star recruits, all three of whom are ranked among the top 21 overall palyers in the country.

Riley has proven to be an offensive genius for Oklahoma and he’s getting weapons in this class to make it happen. Two of his 5-star recruits are wide receivers Jadon Haselwood (No. 1 receiver, No. 4 overall) and Theo Wease (No. 3 receiver, No. 21 overall). Those two big weapons should be huge for the Sooners offense moving forward.

Just as big for the offense is the other 5-star recruit, pro-style quarterback Spencer Rattler. The top-ranked pro-style quarterback is coming to Norman and that’s massively important for them. Yes, the Sooners have Jalen Hurts coming in as a transfer, which may leave Rattler out of action as a freshman. Even still, though, it gives OU stability at the position moving forward as they’ll have their third starting quarterback in as many years in 2019.

With all that in mind, let’s look at the whole Oklahoma 2019 recruiting class and hand out a grade for what they’ve done.

Oklahoma is clearly in good hands with Riley on the field, but perhaps just as good of hands when it comes to who they’re bringing in. This is a strong recruiting class and one that plays perfectly to their strengths moving forward. The Sooners have been to the last two College Football Playoffs, and expect plenty more trips in their future if things continue on this trajectory.
