The Kentucky Wildcats look to keep their nine-game winning streak alive when they hit the road for a big SEC matchup with Mississippi State.

Everything is coming up great for Kentucky, which has cruised to a 19-3 record with wins in 12 of their last 13 games. The Wildcats put on an absolute clinic against South Carolina on Tuesday night, rolling to a 76-48 win while playing killer defense.

The Gamecocks couldn’t get any offense going against the Wildcats’ length, shooting just 35.8 percent from the field while committing 19 turnovers. The Kentucky offense saw four different players score in double figures, led by 20 from sophomore forward P.J. Washington.

The Wildcats hit the road in this one for a matchup with a Mississippi State team that has struggled to find momentum, alternating wins and losses for the past six games. The Bulldogs had a chance for a quality victory against No. 21 LSU at home on Wednesday but blew a game they were leading throughout and fell 92-88 in overtime.

LSU freshman Naz Reid scored 29 in that game, including a dagger 3 with 15 seconds to go in overtime to put the game out of reach. That was a damaging loss for the Bulldogs, who have fallen to 4-5 in SEC play as they fight for attention on a crowded NCAA tournament bubble.

This is the second matchup of the season between these two teams. Kentucky won convincingly over Mississippi State back on Jan. 22, scoring a 76-55 win at Rupp Arena.

The Bulldogs can’t afford to get flattened by Kentucky again, especially on their home court, and fall further behind in the SEC standings. Their next game against Alabama seems winnable on paper, but the Crimson Tide have already beaten the Bulldogs once this season, meaning a loss here could be the start of a losing skid at the absolute worst time.
