Athletic Bilbao face Barcelona at San Mames on Sunday, Feb. 10. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

A visit to Bilbao represents a homecoming of sorts for Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde. He spent six years there as a player in the 1990s before coaching the team for the same length of time during his two stints in the Athletic dugout.

Bilbao have struggled to fill Valverde’s shoes since he departed for Barca in the summer of 2017. His immediate replacement, Jose Angel Ziganda, was sacked after one season. Ziganda’s successor, Eduardo Berizzo, didn’t even last that long. Despite the players apparently buying into the Argentine coach’s methods, a run of only two wins in 15 games led to Berizzo being relieved of his duties in December.

Gaizka Garitano was then promoted from coaching Bilbao’s reserve side to take charge of the first team, and the club’s fortunes have improved markedly since his appointment. Bilbao have won six and lost just two of his 11 games in the dugout, with the likes of Inaki Williams and Iker Muniain finding good form. It’s a run that’s seen the club rise from the relegation zone to 12th spot in the table.
