2019 NFL mock draft: Kyler Murray heads to Jaguars
By Brad Weiss
The Cincinnati Bengals did not win a single playoff game during Marvin Lewis’ 16-year run as the head coach, and they made the decision to part ways with him this off-season. In his place, the Cincinnati Bengals will turn to 35-year old Zac Taylor, who will be a head coach for the first time in his career.
Most recently, Taylor was tasked with being the quarterbacks coach for the Los Angeles Rams, and is seen as a Sean McVay disciple. He will be tasked with turning around a Bengals franchise that has serious issues on both sides of the ball, and may want to bolster their secondary with his first pick as an NFL coach.
When it comes to cornerbacks in the draft class, the consensus top player is Greedy Williams from LSU, who many have mocked to be picked in the top-10. An incredible cover guy with excellent hands, Williams is the kind of player that could seriously shut down one side of the field at the NFL level, and the Bengals have certainly struggled in this department as of late.
Cincinnati has a lot of question marks heading into next season, so it would make sense for them to bolster a premium position like cornerback this April. They still have some incredible assets on the offensive side of the ball in guys like Joe Mixon, Andy Dalton, and AJ Green, but that defense needs a serious face lift heading into a 2019.
