Here’s a preview and prediction for every match on the card at the 2019 edition of the WWE Elimination pay-per-view event.

With last month’s Royal Rumble in the books, we’re well on our way down the road to WrestleMania but there’s a few pit stops along the way to New York … or New Jersey if you want to get technical on things. WWE Fastlane is set for next month but before we get there, we must first detour to Houston for the 2019 edition of WWE Elimination Chamber.

There are currently seven matches on the card this Sunday, including two Elimination Chamber matches, one for the WWE Championship and another to crown the first-ever Women’s Tag Team Champions (more on how inaccurate that is in a bit). There are also four other title matches on the slate (it wouldn’t surprise me if a Raw Tag Team Championship Match got thrown on the kickoff show) and one grudge match that has no business being on a pay-per-view.

You know what? Since we’re on that subject, let’s just going to go ahead and tell you that there will not be a page dedicated to the Braun Strowman vs. Baron Corbin bout that got thrown into this event this past Monday night. This doesn’t still need to be a thing and it bears no importance whatsoever so we’re  just not going to bother with it.

Instead, let’s go ahead and jump into the matches that actually could be good and/or significant as it pertains to what’s ahead in the next few months.

WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match

Buddy Murphy (c) vs. Akira Tozawa

Unfortunately for Buddy Murphy and Akira Tozawa, and for those of us who actually watch this division, the WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match is once again likely to find its way onto the kickoff show. Murphy has been cruising (yeah, I said it) through the division for the past few months, earning big wins against big-time opponents, including a solid victory in a fatal four-way at the Rumble. In his own right, Tozawa, a former Cruiserweight champ, earned his way into this match also in a fatal four-way by defeating Lio Rush, Cedric Alexander and Humberto Carrillo on a recent episode of 205 Live.

Prediction: This should be another good match for the division, even if it does end up going on before everyone piles into the Toyota Center. Buddy Murphy has been a great champion and deserves to carry the title into WrestleMania so I’m calling for another solid outing and another big win here.
