First-year head coach Matt Nagy returned the Bears to prominence with a 12-win season in 2018, but which free agents could get Chicago closer to a Super Bowl berth in 2019?

Matt Nagy infused much-needed life into the Chicago Bears in 2018 and has its fans ready for more playoff appearances in the years to come.

Spurred by the preseason trade for Khalil Mack, the Bears rode their defense to a 12-win season and despite a heartbreaking playoff loss to the Eagles, are in a position to be a perennial contender in the NFC.

As with every team that experiences success, complacency is not an option and the Bears will still have plenty of questions heading into the 2019 season. Standout defensive coordinator Vic Fangio is off to be the head coach of the Denver Broncos, replaced by former Colts head coach Chuck Pagano. And while Mitchell Trubisky took major strides in 2018, inconsistency still holds him back from many pundits being certain that he can lead the Bears to future Super Bowl titles.

With the best defense in the NFL, Chicago has an excellent supporting cast around Trubisky but heads into free agency without much financial flexibility. As a matter of fact, the Bears enter the market with just around $8 million in cap space, per Over The Cap.

Without a draft pick in the first two rounds and limited cap space, the Bears will have to be creative in the free agent market. Here are five free agents who could make sense in the Windy City as looks to make their push towards building upon their success in 2018:
