Dallas Cowboys free agency 2019: Top 5 targets
By Joe Romano
Jamison Crowder, WR
Turning the attention to the offensive side of the ball with this next pick. Dallas has enjoyed strong play from their slot receiver for the past three years. That is thanks to Cole Beasley being there and holding down that spot. With the likelihood of him leaving increasing by the day, Dallas could turn to free agent, rather than the draft, to fill that void.
Jamison Crowder of division rival Washington Redskins is a name to keep an eye on. Crowder is the prototypical slot receiver in the NFL. Not the biggest or fastest but wins with great routes and an excellent set of hands. He was used poorly in Washington and still played well, despite poor quarterback play after Alex Smith went down.
Crowder would fit in perfectly with Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup as the team’s third option. Dallas is looking to new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to open up the passing game for Dak Prescott and these receivers. A player like Crowder who can win underneath and make life easy for the quarterback would be a wise investment.
Like most free agents it will come down to the money. Dallas is not one to overpay for mid-level receivers but may take a gamble with a 25 year old player like Crowder. They will certainly add a player at the position in free agency.
If Crowder prices himself out of the range the team is comfortable with there are other options. Aging Golden Tate could jump from the Eagles for the right price. Another veteran, Randall Cobb would be an interesting addition as well.
