2019 NFL mock draft: Cardinals select Quinnen Williams
By Brad Weiss
The Denver Broncos made a huge splash this past week, as they agreed in principle to trade with the Baltimore Ravens for a quarterback Joe Flacco. Last off-season, the Broncos went out and signed free agent Case Keenum to a three-year deal, but with the signing of Flacco, his run as a starter in Denver is likely over.
Flacco is likely to be the starting quarterback in 2019, but the Broncos still have to figure out what they’re going to do in terms of a franchise quarterback moving forward. The 2020 NFL draft class is loaded with quarterbacks, including Tua Tagovailoa, Jake Fromm, and Justin Herbert, so the team may look to bring in a wide receiver with their top-10 pick this year.
The Broncos got great production from Courtland Sutton last season, and they have some solid young options at the wide receiver position moving forward. However, they may want to roll the dice on a player who could end up being an elite wide receiver at the NFL level, and D.K. Metcalf could be a top-10 pick this April.
Flacco loves to throw the ball deep, and in Metcalf, he would have another solid weapon on the outside that he can throw to. Remember, this Broncos defense is going to be one of the best in the NFL next season, so if they continue to stockpile talent on the offensive side of the ball, they could be a team that is a legitimate contender in what should be a very competitive AFC West in 2019.
