Tye Dillinger announced on Tuesday night via Twitter that he has asked WWE to release him.

In a time where WWE has seen a recent set of call-ups from NXT, there have been rumors of some superstars asking for their release. On Tuesday night, one WWE superstar confirmed that he has asked for his release from the company.

Tye Dillinger, who has been with the company for several years now, went to Twitter and announced he has decided to ask that WWE let him go. He says the he feels now is the best decision for him and his family.

He first appeared on WWE TV at Cyber Sunday 2006. He was an on-screen agent known as “Stan,” and fell victim to one of the wildest scenes from D-Generation X in their near decade-long existence.

He later reappeared in WWE in 2013 as “The Perfect 10” Tye Dillinger. He found his biggest success as part of NXT, but seemed to get lost in the shuffle when he tried to continue that run on SmackDown! Live. But when he went down an injury late last year, he’s not been seen on TV since.

As noted earlier, several superstars have been rumored to have asked for their releases. Names such as The Revival, Mike Kanellis and Maria Kanellis have all been on the request radar in recent days. And Nic Nemeth has taken his better known alias of Dolph Ziggler off of all his social media profiles.

It should be noted that All Elite Wrestling is gaining momentum into their upcoming show in Las Vegas. And any WWE superstar that asks for their release will almost automatically carry the rumor of signing with AEW. Take the case of The Undertaker, who recently deleted all mentions of WWE from his social media. He’s appearing at an event that happens to be the same weekend as AEW’s next event. Fans everywhere have been predicting he’ll at least make an appearance. And of course if Dillinger gets his release, it’ll be an automatic assumption he’ll jump ship.

AS of now, it doesn’t appear that WWE will be granting ANY releases. But if for no other reason, the speculation is entertaining to watch.
