2019 NFL Draft: Green Bay Packers 7-round mock
Round 2 – Riley Ridley, WR, Georgia
The Packers were certainly hurt by injuries to their wide receiver corps last year, but the group could still use a solid infusion of talent. Dipping back into the SEC to add Riley Ridley to the mix would be an excellent second round selection for Green Bay.
Don’t let his lack of eye-popping stats at Georgia fool you, Ridley is a player who will fit in seamlessly with a sophisticated NFL defense. When you watch him on film it’s easy to see that he already understands the vast majority of routes that he’ll be asked to run at the next level.
He may not be an electric runner after the catch, but playing with Rodgers reduces a receiver’s need to do that. He can throw a guy like Ridley open on a consistent basis. The Packers don’t need a game breaker, they need a polished wideout who can move the chains.
The biggest question about Ridley is whether or not he’ll still be around when the Packers make their selection in Round 2. He’s already generating a lot of buzz for teams late in the first round. If Green Bay really wants to acquire him, they may need to move up the round to make it happen.
