Fantasy Hockey –  DraftKings Snipes – Center

Mathew Barzal Islanders ($5,400)

Barzal is far too talented to be this cheap! I don’t even care that this is the second night of a back-to-back. They put on a show in front of their home crowd, who was more interested in booing John Tavares than watching the game itself. But the team put on an onslaught with a 6-1 victory.

Barzal distributed an assist and just one shot on goal in 15 and a half minutes of ice time. The former Calder Trophy Award winner may fall short of his 85 points from his rookie season as he has 51 with 20 games to go. But he is contributing in more ways than just scoring.

He has already surpassed his blocked shots total from last season of 31 to 39. Also, he will likely exceed his hit total of 21, where is just six away. His pure quickness and slick hands helps him create A+ chances not only for himself, but his teammates as well. Look for Barzal and this surging Islanders team to put on another show in front of their home crowd against a Capitals team that ranks 26th versus opposing centers.

Nathan MacKinnon Avalanche ($7,500)

Speaking of speed and quickness with the puck, let’s talk about Nathan MacKinnon. 33 goals and 48 assists through 64 games is spectacular. He is tied for 5th in points with his teammate Mikko Rantanen at 81. In fact, I won’t be talking about it specifically, but you can feel more than confident stacking that whole top line of MacKinnon, Rantanen and Alex Kerfoot if you can afford it.

But if you want a one-off, take the guy in the middle of it all. Mac finally broke out in a big way last year in 74 games. He exploded for 39 goals and 58 assists on the season. He’s following up a runner-up Hart Trophy season with an even better output of scoring, on pace to improve his scoring totals.

MacKinnon regularly receivers more than 20 minutes of ice time and has possessed the puck at a career best CF% of 53.9 and FF% of 53.1. On top of that, his shifts start in the offensive zone more than 63% of the time.

Fantasy Hockey – DraftKings Snipes – Winger

Mark Stone Knights ($6,800)

Stone debuted with his new team on Tuesday and is currently in the 2nd period of his encore. He did not put up any points on the scoreboard but had plenty of chances on six shots. In his last 10 games, between two teams of course, Stone has six goals and six assists.

The Golden Knights have put Stone on the second line, pairing him with Max Pacioretty and Paul Stastny. It’s hard to use possession stats for Stone because of the minuscule sample size with his new team. However, he has not gone below 50% in CF% or FF%. Stone showed great chemistry with his line with a CF% and FF% greater than 65.0. Surely that number will come down a bit, but let’s see if his new team helps him produce even greater numbers than with the lowly Senators.

Claude Giroux Flyers ($6,500)

Giroux is the first part of a Flyers line stack that I will look to expose in my lineup. Giroux, at 31 years old, is still one of the premier players in the NHL and one of the top set-up guys. Last year he led the league in assists with 68 and is on pace to get close to that again with 46.

Giroux will likely fall short of the century mark in points in 2019, but his consistency and skill keeps him among the elite. He has solid Corsi numbers with a CF% of 52.4 and a FF% of 52.6. Coach Scott Gordon has him on the top line and the first power play unit. He’s unbelievable at setting up his teammates with 15 power-play assists.

Jakub Voracek Flyers ($6,300)

Tonight feels like a night that I want depth throughout my lineup. Pairing Giroux and Voracek is a way of doing that as neither winger is priced too high. They are similar on the ice in a sense that they both love setting up their teammates, but both have shown the ability to light the lamp from time-to-time.

Voracek has nine points in his last ten games which included a three-point night against the Penguins. In his last two games, Voracek has changed up his style a bit and has starting seeking the net with 13 shots. If you saw the game on Thursday, he had an absolute snipe on the power play. The Devils rank 23rd against opposing right wingers so to be honest, if you decide not to pair Flyers but want a one-off, I like Voracek over Giroux.

Fantasy Hockey – DraftKings Snipes – Defense and Goalie

Rasmus Dahlin Sabres ($4,800)

$4,800 feels like a bit of a gift for the young defensive stud in Buffalo. Dahlin, the most recent #1 overall pick has shown maturity that allows him to succeed at this level. In 63 games, he has eight goals and 29 assists on the second line.

More from FanSided

Dahlin is a big part of the Sabres first power-play unit with four goals and 12 assists with a man advantage. He is currently riding a four-game point streak. It won’t be easy facing Sidney Crosby and the Penguins. But in front of his home crowd, Dahlin has proven he won’t back down to anyone.

He has provided great Corsi numbers with a CF% of 52.1 and FF% of 51.9. Dahlin has been put into a good situation where 58.6% of his shifts begin in the offensive zone.

Jordan Binnington Blues ($7,500)

The St. Louis Blues have been absolutely en fuego lately. That’s the extent of my spanish other than “tengo ir el bano” and “la biblioteca.” Thanks 7th and 8th grade Spanish class! The former 3rd round pick from 2011 is finally getting an opportunity to break out and he has not disappointed.

Next. NHL DFS Man Advantage - DraftKings Slate Breakdown - March 1. dark

In 18 starts, Binnington is 15-2-1 with a piping hot .937 SV% and five shutouts. I don’t necessarily love a match up against the young and exciting Carolina offense. But at this low price, it is hard to pass up a goalie as locked in as Binnington.
