2. Defensive end

The Cardinals got after the quarterback in 2018. The team was top-five in that category with their 49 total sacks. Chandler Jones led the team with 13.

So why would this team need to add to a strength? Teams are always in need of pass-rush help, and if Jones gets hurt or struggles they’d be in a real bind. Free agency is packed with defensive ends, and the team could select Nick Bosa with their first-overall pick too, if necessary.

Free agency won’t be cheap, but the Cardinals can bid heavily to an extent. DeMarcus Lawrence may be priced too high, but Ezekiel Ansah, Dante Fowler and Frank Clark may be players that the Cardinals can ink on a deal. Pairing either of these players on the opposite side of Jones would give the Cardinals some serous edge-rush pressure, which would cause a lot of chaos for opposing teams.

It all depends on what the team thinks they will do with that coveted No. 1 pick. If they want Murray, they’ll dip into free agency to find a defensive end. The way they attack free agency could be an indication of what the team plans to do on draft night.
