Isaiah Buggs, DT, Alabama

It is clear that the Alabama Crimson Tide have dominant players on their defense. Perhaps the best player in the entire draft is their defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. Playing alongside Williams will hide a lot of holes and it appears that was the case last year. Isaiah Buggs was the do-it-all defensive lineman for the Tide. Buggs lined up all along the front for the National Champion runner ups. However the NFL combine was not a good showing.

Physically Buggs projected as an inside presence who is not dominant in one area but good enough across the board to be a rotational piece and spot starter. After measuring in with arms that rank in the third percentile, and hands in the ninth percentile, NFL teams will question if he can get off blocks and be what he was in college.

On the field Buggs did not perform well either. According to MockDraftable Buggs finished with a 40 yard dash in the 19th percentile. In no other area did he finish above the tenth percentile. For a player who has already been inconsistent and tagged with effort issues, that is not a good sign.

If he was not motivated by Nick Saban and playing for National Championships, Buggs may never get motivated. Interviews were big for him and there are no negative reports which is a good sign. However, on the field, Buggs was disappointing and pushed his value down boards with his showing.
