Jared Cook rumors: 5 best fits in NFL free agency
2. Buffalo Bills
While diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, a good tight end can be the same for a young quarterback. Josh Allen was elite with his feet for the Bills last season, but his passing left a lot to be desired.
In 12 games for Buffalo last season, Allen completed only 52.8% of his passes for 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. The Bills didn’t really provide much for Allen in terms of weapons, but the tight end spot was particularly troublesome.
Normally reliable veteran Charles Clay wasn’t very useful, catching only 21 passes for 184 yards without hitting pay dirt. Cook would provide the Bills a massive upgrade over Clay and backup Jason Croom, and his elite athleticism could help corral some of Allen’s more wayward throws.
The Bills have plenty of cap space available, entering the offseason with about $80 million to spend, so they will definitely be able to make a strong bid for Cook. Considering how important Allen is to the franchise’s long term future, investing in a big tight end to help him out makes a ton of sense for Buffalo.
