With Purdue’s loss to Minnesota on Tuesday night, the in-state showdown between the Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans will determine the Big Ten’s regular season champion.

It is fitting that the battle for Big Ten supremacy would come down to a head-to-head showdown on the season’s final weekend. The Big Ten has been the deepest conference in America this season, and its two best teams are set to square off tonight in East Lansing.

The visiting Wolverines have had plenty of time to prepare for this game, with their last contest coming on Sunday when they beat Maryland 69-62 on Senior Day. All five Michigan starters scored in double figures in that game, with freshman Ignas Brazdeikis leading the way with 21 points.

The Spartans haven’t had as long of a layoff, but they bounced back nicely from a loss at Indiana to blow out Nebraska 91-76 on Tuesday night at home. Senior Kenny Goins nearly recorded a double-double for Michigan State, recording 24 points and eight rebounds in the easy victory.

It will be Senior Night at the Breslin Center, so Michigan State would love to send off Goins and Matt McQuaid with one more win over Michigan and a Big Ten title. The Wolverines, who lost to the Spartans on their home floor just under two weeks ago, should be more than willing to try and spoil the party.
