NFL Draft 2019: San Francisco 49ers 7-round mock draft
By Joe Romano
Round 4 – Pick 104
Vosean Joseph, LB, Florida
The San Francisco 49ers grabbed a steal in last year’s draft with linebacker Fred Warner. After the dismissal of Reuben Foster, Warner has been able to step up and lead the way for the 49ers linebacker crew. He showed a rare ability to be a three-down NFL linebacker with a mix of size and speed. Warner will continue to grow and likely be the leader of that defense for a long time. He could still use a running mate.
Enter Florida’s Vosean Joseph. The 6-foot, 225 pound linebacker was a solid player this year for the Gators. Despite being undersized, he brings what the NFL is looking for at the linebacker position; speed. Coupled with Warner, the 49ers would boast and athletic duo who could do multiple things on every down.
With the league shifting to a majority nickel defense, Joseph is just fine. Joseph would fare even better at San Francisco given the talent in front of him. When he is kept clean and is able to attack downhill and run he is an exceptional player. This would give the team two mid-round linebackers who can potentially be a low-cost starting tandem for years.
Round 5 – No Pick
The San Fransisco 49ers traded their 2019 fifth round pick for guard Laken Tomlinson from the Detroit Lions in August of 2017. Tomlinson will likely be the starter for the team again next season. For a fifth round pick he’s been a solid investment with still some room to grow.
