6. New York Giants

Jawaan Taylor, T, Florida

After the first five picks, the draft seems to get really interesting. The New York Giants, like last year, could go in a ton of ways. There is a chance that general manager David Gettleman falls in love with Dwayne Haskins and grabs him to sit behind Eli Manning. New York could opt for a pass rusher like Rashan Gary, Montez Sweat or Brian Burns. Even a corner like Greedy Williams cannot be ruled out. The options are seemingly endless for this team that is in flux.

At the end of the day Gettleman’s track record of building through the trenches points to the offensive line. A year ago the team drafted Will Hernandez in the second round and sign Nate Solder to a massive contract. Clearly the management sees a need to protect Manning and their investment in Saquon Barkley.

That is why they grab the draft’s most well rounded tackle in Florida’s Jawaan Taylor. An exceptional athlete and ascending prospect, Taylor is a great fit at right tackle for the Giants. Taylor is a very smooth footed but heavy handed tackle prospect who grew leaps and bounds last season. He gives the Giants a player that the can comfortably leave on an island. Taylor’s presence on the line would solidify the unit as a whole.

With a 37-year-old quarterback who is prone to taking sacks, having strong tackles goes a long way. Compound that with the team leaning more on Barkley next year (if that is possible) Taylor fits what the Giants want to do.
