Buffalo Bills sign wide receiver Cole Beasley: Grades, reactions and more

    • With a young quarterback in place in Josh Allen the Buffalo Bills entered the offseason with a plan to surround him with talent. It started on Monday with the signing of former Chiefs’ center Mitch Morse. Now they have added another receiving threat in former Cowboys’ slot receiver Cole Beasley.

    According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Beasley will sign a four year deal with the Bills.

    Contract Details

    Garafolo states that Beasley will receive $29 million over the four year contract. That contract guarantees Beasley $14.4 million with $17 million coming in the first two years of the deal.

    This is the type of deal that smart teams with young quarterbacks are making. It locks Beasley into two years at a good cap number but makes him expendable beyond that. This sets up for the Bills to move on from a player that will be over 30 years old when those first two years have expired. It also syncs up with Allen being eligible for a big extension.

    National Reaction

    The Draft Network’s Joe Marino, a noted Bills fan, thinks Beasley fits into the Bills offense well.

    Marcus Mosher of RaidersWire and various other outlets will miss Beasley as a Cowboys fan.

    The Bills needed to add weapons to help Allen in his second year. Allen played with one of the worst sets of passing game weapons in the league last year. Beasley fits the mold of what teams want in their slot receivers. Despite being almost 30, he still is a productive player who does not kill the Bills’ timeline.

    This type of move will keep both Beasley and the team happy. Beasley gets the money that his former team, the Cowboys, were not willing to give up. Buffalo gets a piece to help Allen and open up the middle of the field.
