SEC Baseball: Power rankings after Week 1 of SEC play
The Missouri Tigers were expected to be towards the bottom of the SEC baseball standings, and so far, they have lived up (or down) to those expectations. The Tigers were scuffling along before SEC play began, and they were greeted with a sweep by the Arkansas Razorbacks.
The Kentucky Wildcats were hoping to bounce back in a big way after being left out of the 2018 NCAA Tournament. So far, the bounce back has been more of a thud than anything else. The Wildcats have looked okay against weaker competition, but when facing better teams, the Wildcats have looked overmatched. That was the case this past weekend when the Wildcats were swept by the LSU Tigers.
The Alabama Crimson Tide has had a decent start to the 2019 season, but their schedule was lacking any real substance. Seeing how they did in the first week of SEC play was always going to give a barometer of how far this team might have come. Losing two of three to Ole Miss isn’t so bad, but getting crushed 12-2 in the series finales is concerning for the long term prognosis of the 2019 season.
