A disappointing Super Bowl loss ended the Los Angeles Rams season in 2018. Now they can look to the 2019 NFL Draft to reload for another run.

The Los Angeles Rams, at one point during the 2018 season looked like far and away the best team in football. Their cast of characters assembled during the offseason were meshing well with the talent on hand already. It was evident that this was something special. Unfortunately it did not work out and like the rest of the NFL they are preparing for the 2019 NFL Draft without a Super Bowl trophy in their office.

With another offseason to grow Jared Goff into his system, Sean McVay could produce a similar season in 2019. Los Angeles lost some talent but was able to bring in players. They are once again understanding that they have a small window to capitalize on Goff’s rookie scale contract and loading up on veterans playing on short deals. This offseason they retained Dante Fowler on a one-year deal worth $14 million. Then they went out and signed Eric Weddle to a very friendly contract and Clay Matthews to a modest deal. Those are moves that a team makes when they want to win right away.

Unfortunately the players that they lost may hurt more than the guys coming in help. Both Roger Saffold and John Sullivan are gone from the offensive line. Defensively the team will likely not see Ndamukong Suh return and they already cut ties with Mark Barron. The biggest loss, even though his play has been up-and-down was safety Lamarcus Joyner who is now in Oakland.

The Rams have plenty of holes to fill. Overall this is one of the most talented rosters in the NFL. If Todd Gurley is healthy, a big if given his arthritic knee, they should be right back in the hunt.
