SEC baseball power rankings: Bulldogs own top 2 spots
Vanderbilt goes up two spots after an impressive week. The Commodores entered their series with the Gators coming off a tough opening series loss to the Aggies, so it was big for Vanderbilt to put together a solid showing against their division rival. And what an impressive outing it was. The Commodores swept the Gators and none of the games were close. Vanderbilt looked like the team most people thought they would be when they were picked as the number one team in the country by many college baseball publications in the preseason.
The Aggies move up one spot in this week’s rankings after their sweep of the Kentucky Wildcats. The Aggies are quietly putting together a season where they could compete for the SEC Championship. The Aggies are doing what the Gators haven’t been able to do, and that is win with youth. There is a number of underclassmen who are already contributing to this team, and while the future for the Aggies is bright, the present doesn’t look too shabby.
Arkansas has looked really strong after playing for a national championship in 2018. The Razorbacks are a strong hitting team, and they can pitch pretty well to boot. The only thing keeping the Razorbacks out of the top two spots in their SEC schedule has not been the most rigorous. Sweeping Missouri and winning two of three against Alabama is nice, but it doesn’t inspire enough confidence to move the Razorbacks ahead of either of the top two teams.
