Three NFL franchises are interested in making a deal with the Cardinals for Josh Rosen. Do the Giants, Patriots or Chargers need him the most?

The Cardinals insist they haven’t made a final decision about who they will draft with the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft, but everyone around the NFL believes it will be Kyler Murray. If that happens, Arizona will look to offload Josh Rosen to the highest bidder.

At the moment, the Patriots, Giants and Chargers are all being linked with interest in the second-year signal caller. According to Joel Klatt, one of those teams has already offered a second round pick in exchange for Rosen. At the moment, the Cardinals are holding out for a first rounder.

Time will tell if any team is willing to meet Arizona’s asking price, but Rosen will almost certainly be dealt. This piece examines which of the three teams interested in his services need him the most.

3. New England Patriots

It makes complete sense for the Patriots to be in the mix for Rosen. Tom Brady can’t play quarterback in New England forever. It would be a classic Belichick move to swoop in and turn a distressed asset like Rosen into a quality NFL player.

Finding Brady’s successor just isn’t the top priority in New England at the moment. Belichick and the team’s brain trust need to spend their energy and resources trying to figure out how to replace Rob Gronkowski this offseason. Dealing a second round pick for a backup quarterback just isn’t a luxury the Patriots can afford themselves at this point in time.

As such, they’re the team in this group that needs to add Rosen the least. They could certainly use him, but finding a new quarterback seems like something the Patriots will explore next year.
