2. No. 24 Ole Miss Rebels at No. Arkansas Razorbacks

Why it’s important

The Ole Miss Rebels entered the 2019 SEC baseball season with sky-high expectations. They have played well, but they have not performed anywhere near the level most people thought they would when the season began.

The biggest problem Ole Miss has is getting consistency from their pitching staff. The Rebels came into the season knowing they would have to replace their entire weekend rotation from a season ago, and the results have been mixed.

Will Ethridge has been superb in the Friday night role. He currently has a 4-1 record with a 0.71 ERA. The problem has been the pitchers who followed him on Saturday and Sunday. Ole Miss needs to figure out their rotation if they want to have the same type of success they had a season ago.

The Arkansas Razorbacks are doing all they can to prove there wasn’t going to be any drop off after the team lost some integral parts of their team that appeared in the National Championship Series. There’s nothing that jumps off the stat sheet at you to tell you how they’ve done it. They have just been a solid team in all phases of the game.

Prediction

The Ole Miss Rebels need a series win in the worst way to prove they can win games against the best teams in the conference and in the country. But the Razorbacks are playing at a really high level and it’s in Fayetteville. Ole Miss gets one game of the series, but Arkansas wins the other two.
