MLB rumors: 5 prospects who can help Blue Jays in 2019

2018 was a dismal season for the Blue Jays, but 2019 brings a little glimmer of hope for Toronto in the form of a deep prospect pool.
The Toronto Blue Jays may have experienced their fair share of tumult over the last few seasons, going from injuries to full-blown roster rebuild, but brighter times are on the horizon – and they could be coming as soon as next month.
After a 2018 season that saw the Blue Jays finish with a 73-89 record – good (bad?) enough for fourth in the AL East, ahead of only the 47-115 Baltimore Orioles – 2019 brings a glimmer of hope.
Team President Mark Shapiro and General Manager Ross Atkins know they have a pretty solid base to base their decisions around, and have already dipped their toes into the prospect pool, bringing up some youngsters that look to make solid contributions in 2019.
Lefty pitcher Ryan Borucki has been officially added to the starting rotation after a solid 2018 campaign that saw him compile a 3.87 ERA in 97.2 IP over 17 starts, and catcher Danny Jansen has also been brought up after veteran Russell Martin was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers back in January.
Blue Jays fans have also seen some more additions in the past week: pitcher Trent Thornton, who set a club record for strikeouts (eight) in his MLB debut, designated hitter Rowdy Tellez, who belted a game-tying three-run shot vs. the Detroit Tigers over the weekend, and pitcher Sean Reid-Foley, who gets the start vs. the Orioles tonight.
