The Masters – DraftKings PGA Preview – Course Horses

DraftKings Masters Millionaire Maker tees off next week! I have put together a list of 18 guys (listed in alphabetical order) who crush Augusta National. Usually course history is a minor factor in my roster construction, but the Masters is a totally different ballgame. Augusta is a uniquely challenging tract, and there are certain guys who crush this course no matter current form. By integrating this course history research with your recent form models (I use FantasyNational.com), you will have a fair shot to hoist the million dollar prize.

Paul Casey – 9,000

In the last 6 years Casey has posted a respectable T15, 6, T4, T6, MC, T38. Casey has made the cut in 9/12 tries at Augusta.

Fred Couples – 6,200

Freddy is playing in his 33rd Masters tournament and the 1992 Green Jacket winner can still hold his own. In his last 8 tries, Freddy has 6 top 20s, a T38 last year, and a missed cut. Although Couples has only missed the cut 3/32 tries, all three have been in the last 10 years.

Jason Day – 9,100

Day is a world-class golfer and consistently the best putter in world. One should expect results such as his 7/8 made cuts (WD in 2012 – classic JD right?) with 3 top 10s and never finishing worse than 28th. However, Day’s T2, WD, T3 start has been followed up with a T20, T28, T10, T22, T20.

Rickie Fowler – 9,700

Fowler just about won this event last year. Even though victories have been difficult to come by for Fowler, the 30-year-old already has a victory on the PGA Tour this year. Fowler has 7/8 made cuts with 4 top 15’s and a MC in his last 5 Masters.

Sergio Garcia – 7,700

Naming his first-born after the course should be enough, right? Sergio took home the green jacket in 2017, then missed the cut in 2018 due to one extremely bad hole that derailed his round (he hit 5 in the water at 15! Here is the video in case you forgot). He has now made the cut in 8/10 Masters. Since 2012 Sergio has gone T12, T8, MC, T17, T34, 1, MC.

Charlie Hoffman – 6,800

Hoffman has never finished worse than 29th in 5 tries at the Masters (2018-2011: T12, T22, T29, T9, T27).

Dustin Johnson – 11,300

After sitting out the 2017 Masters due to the infamous stair incident, Johnson finished inside the top-10 in 2018. Johnson has made 7/8 cuts and has a T10, T4, T6, MC, T13 in his last 5 appearances.

Matt Kuchar – 7,900

Kuch has not missed a cut in 9 straight Masters appearances. He has a phenomenal track record here, with 4 top 10 finishes in his last 7 tries (T28, T4, T24, T46, T5, T8, T3).

Hideki Matsuyama – 8,700

Matsuyama entered last year’s Masters with a lingering wrist injury and finished T9. Hideki has a T9, T11, T7, 5 in his last 4 Masters. Before that, he made the cut twice as an amateur and missed the cut his 1st time as a pro.

Rory McIlroy – 11,600

McIlroy boasts 9/10 made cuts and 5 straight top 10 finishes at Augusta. A Green Jacket will complete his career grand slam, and the added pressure has haunted the W up to this point.

Phil Mickelson – 8,300

Phil has struggled lately here, but you cannot deny his superb track record.   22/26 made cuts, 3 victories, 1 runner-up, 5 3rd place finishes, and 15/26 top 10’s. He has struggled at Augusta recently, finishing with 2 missed cuts (T36, T22, MC, T2, MC) in his last 5 appearances.

Ian Poulter – 7,600

12/13 made cuts, 3 top 10’s, and 7 top 25’s. Rumor has it that Poulter got in some work at Augusta national a couple of weeks ago in preparation for the Masters – take that how you will.

The Masters – DraftKings PGA Preview – Course Horses Q-Z

Prices are courtesy of DraftKings.com and Masters results are courtesy on Augusta.com!

Justin Rose – 10,800

Rose absolutely demolishes this course, yet he has never dawned the coveted Green Jacket. Rose has made 13/13 cuts and his worse finish was T39 in his first ever Masters. Rose’s 13 appearances from 2018-2003: T12, 2, T10, T2, T14, T25, T8, T11, T20, T36, T5, T22, T39. That is the definition of a course horse!

More from FanSided

Adam Scott – 8,400

Scott is another guy who knows his way around Augusta National. Scott has made 9 straight cuts here (15/17 total), and won the Green Jacket in 2013.

Jordan Spieth – 8,900

So what if Jordan Spieth is playing like garbage. Spieth has 5 trips to the Masters: 3, T2, 1, T2, T11. That’s pretty good.

Jimmy Walker – 6,600

Walker also has 5 trips to the Masters: T20, T8, T38, T29, T18. That’s pretty good for a near minimum salary guy.

Bubba Watson – 8,800

Bubba either dominates the course or gets dominated by the course. He has won the Green Jacket twice and finished T5 in 2018, but has failed to finish better than T20 in his other 9/10 made cuts (T5, MC, T37, T38, 1, T50, 1, T38, 42, T20).

Tiger Woods – 10,500

Woods made his return to the Masters last year after a two-year hiatus, finishing T32. As a pro, Tiger is 19/19 in made cuts. Tiger’s last Green Jacket came in 2005 (his 4th Masters victory). In 19 attempts, Tiger has 16 top 20’s (13 being top 10’s).
