Fosse/Verdon series premiere live stream: Watch online

Calling fans of Broadway, high drama and deeply problematic male genius: Here’s how to watch FX’s new series Fosse/Verdon online by live stream.

Fosse/Verdon tells the story of Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon. The former was a prolific and widely acclaimed director and choreographer, the latter perhaps the best dancer Broadway ever saw. Together, they were responsible for some of the best known and most influential musicals ever to play the Great White Way.

Academy Award winner Sam Rockwell plays Fosse, while Academy Award nominee Michelle Williams takes on the role of Verdon. The show has serious Broadway production bonafides as well. Lin-Manuel Miranda is an executive producer and his Hamilton director Thomas Kail is at the helm. (Kail is also responsible for a number of a recent “live” musical television specials — the man knows how to shoot musical numbers for TV.)

The miniseries, based on the biography Fosse by Sam Wesson, is not without its controversy and critical opinion has been split. While it seems clear the intention has been to put some of the spotlight back on Verdon and give her her due credit for the fruits of their labor, some critics believe it nonetheless falls into toxic male genius myth-building.

FX describes the premiere as follows:

"Spanning five decades, Fosse/Verdon explores the singular romantic and creative partnership between Bob Fosse (Sam Rockwell) and Gwen Verdon (Michelle Williams)."
