It was just supposed to be a regular, run-of-the-mill episode of Fastbreak Breakfast, previewing the playoffs as NBA podcasts are contractually and morally obligated to do. Sure there would be trademarked zaniness, perhaps we would review our preseason Over/Under predictions. But then like a thunderbolt out of the blue came news that our favorite franchise had made some big changes:

After that, it is mainly a blur, though I’m fairly certain there was a strain of “Glory Glory Hallelujah” that spontaneously erupted. We had been clamoring for a Grizzlies front office change for a while and just assumed one would never occur. While our wishes were granted, we are left with many questions and certainly aren’t confident that moving to a fifth different coach in six seasons is the sign of stable organization. But at least for one afternoon, we could feel briefly optimistic.

So grab an afternoon donut, and buckle up for a wild emotional ride on this brand new episode. (The unplanned fireworks start at the 42-minute mark). Oh, and we did eventually get around to previewing the playoffs, if that is your thing.

Fastbreak Breakfast is a podcast for serious NBA fans that is incredibly not serious. All episodes are available on Apple Podcasts and Soundcloud or any other major podcast service.
