NFL mock draft if underclassmen were eligible: Trevor Lawrence goes No. 1, Tua in top 5
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Devin White, LB, LSU
The Buccaneers lost Kwon Alexander in free agency and they could plug in Devin White as their starter for the next decade. The former LSU standout had a terrific career in the SEC and that carried over to the Combine where he ran a blazing 40 and wowed scouts, GM’s and fans alike with his workout on the field.
White is the prototypical middle linebacker in the modern NFL that is spreading defenses out and trying to beat them in the passing game. White has the ability to run and cover backs and tight ends, he can blitz and get to the quarterback and he can chase plays down sideline-to-sideline.
He’s a future face of a defense and the Buccaneers need one of those. There may be more valuable positions, like edge rusher, but the floor on White is as high as the penthouse on a New York high rise.
