Here is everything you need to know heading into the upcoming edition of WWE 205 Live for April 16, airing on the WWE Network.

WWE 205 Live returns with a special edition featuring the end of the Superstar Shake-Up. Cedric Alexander is scheduled to face Oney Lorcan in what may be his final appearance on 205 Live as it was revealed on this week’s Monday Night Raw that Alexander would be joining the red brand moving forward as part of the Shake-Up.

Alexander getting the call-up makes perfect sense since he’s already accomplished everything possible on 205 Live. Lorcan getting to have the final chapter of Alexander’s run on the show is a huge honor for him as he moves forward with the brand. A comment last week revealed Alexander said Lorcan will carry the brand one day and that day may be here with Alexander moving on.

205 Live will need new stars to step up with stalwarts like Ali and Alexander moving up to the bigger brands. There have been rumors about Buddy Murphy leaving the show as well after losing his rematch last week and getting advertised to appear on NXT later this week. It will be interesting to see if any new talents from NXT, NXT UK or even Raw and SmackDown make the move to the cruiserweight division if fitting the weight limit.

Tony Nese is the new face of the show following his win of the Cruiserweight Championship at WrestleMania 35 and a successful defense days later against Murphy. The departure of Alexander puts even more importance on Nese to create momentum for the show with the loss of such valuable talents.

Nese is clearly motivated to have a great title reign following some of the incredible moves he performed last week. The biggest opportunity on the show will feature someone eventually getting a No. 1 contender’s spot to challenge Nese.

Lorcan could easily slide into that role with a win over Alexander. Other heels like Mike Kanellis, Drew Gulak and Ariya Daivari will want a spot in the title picture as well. Time will tell if we find out the next eventual challenger of Nese tonight or in the coming weeks.

Last week’s opening match featured the implosion of the trio of Gulak, Jack Gallagher and Humberto Carrillo. Gulak attacked Carrillo during his match with Gallagher. The actions of Gallagher led to the surprise of him attacking his friend Gulak. All three men appear to be on their own as this story moves forward.

There is the potential of the three trying to make it work by reuniting for one more match, or they could attack each other once again. Regardless, this is still arguably the top story going on 205 Live right now as each wrestler is quite talented.

Mike and Maria Kanellis have been trying to build momentum, but Mike has only managed to score one pinfall victory over Akira Tozawa. A rematch between the two featured Tozawa getting the win thanks to Brian Kendrick informing the referee of Maria’s interference, preventing the couple from cheating into another win.

Tozawa and Kanellis are tied at 1-1 with the likelihood of a tie breaker coming in the near future or maybe even tonight. The winner of this feud will have a great claim to the title picture. Kanellis could slot in there as a heel to challenge the face Nese, or Tozawa could provide a great match in a face vs face story.
