One year after winning it all, the Philadelphia Eagles failed to return to the Super Bowl. Can the team make another championship run this season?

One season after capturing the franchise’s first NFL title since 1960, the Philadelphia Eagles spent the majority of 2018 trying to win two games in a row. A 4-6 start by the reigning Super Bowl champions had Doug Pederson’s club in danger of missing the playoffs a season after hoisting a Lombardi Trophy.

But the Birds gathered themselves and won five of their last six outings. It wasn’t enough to recapture the NFC East but the team returned to the postseason. A win over the Bears at Soldier Field in the wild card round was followed by a loss in the divisional playoffs. So what can be expected this fall?

While dealing defensive end Michael Bennett was arguably the team’s headline move this offseason, the Eagles welcomed back a pair of one-time members of the club who spent time recently with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – trading for wide receiver DeSean Jackson and inking defensive end Vinny Curry after the Birds cut him loose last offseason.

The Eagles do have the customary number of selections in this month’s draft. But it should be noted that three of those picks come within the first 57 choices.

The Eagles are looking to get back to the playoffs for a third consecutive year, something the franchise hasn’t done since the club went to the postseason five straight years from 2000-04. Dethroning the Dallas Cowboys as NFC East champions won’t be easy as well. But this has become a well-run organization.
