Pete Carroll’s team overcame a slow start in 2018 to reach the playoffs. So are the Seattle Seahawks now primed to win the NFC West?

It was supposed to be a rebuilding year of sorts in the Pacific Northwest. The Seattle Seahawks made numerous big-time changes last offseason, including the hiring of a new offensive and defensive coordinator. On the latter side of the football, prominent performers such as cornerback Richard Sherman, safety Kam Chancellor and defensive ends Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril no longer with the team for various reasons.

The upheaval would be followed by a 0-2 start by Pete Carroll’s club. But it ended with 10 wins in the final 14 games and a sixth playoff appearance in seven years. The ‘Hawks rediscovered their ground attack and quarterback Russell Wilson had another stellar campaign. So what’s the next step for this always-intriguing club?

Here is how the complete schedule, week-by-week, lays out for the Seattle Seahawks:

Week 1: vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Week 2: at Pittsburgh Steelers
Week 3: vs. New Orleans Saints
Week 4: at Arizona Cardinals
Week 5: vs. Los Angeles Rams (Thurs.)
Week 6: at Cleveland Browns
Week 7: vs. Baltimore Ravens
Week 8: at Atlanta Falcons
Week 9: vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Week 10: at San Francisco 49ers (Mon.)
Week 11: BYE
Week 12: at Philadelphia Eagles (Sun. nite)
Week 13: vs. Minnesota Vikings (Mon.)
Week 14: at Los Angeles Rams (Sun. nite)
Week 15: at Carolina Panthers
Week 16: vs. Arizona Cardinals
Week 17: vs. San Francisco 49ers

It’s been somewhat of a subdued offseason for this franchise. The team added a few veterans in free agency, mostly for depth. And later this month, the Seahawks don’t figure to be very busy in Nashville as the club has only four picks in the 2019 draft.

Carroll did an outstanding job righting the ship after the Seahawks dropped their first two games. But is this team currently equipped to challenge the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC West? It’s safe to say that this is always a club to watch and can never be counted out when it comes to playoff contention.
