2019 NFL mock draft: Kyler Murray, Nick Bosa kick things off
Jacksonville took care of its quarterback need by signing Nick Foles to a four-year deal worth $88 million this offseason. Now, General Manager Dave Caldwell has to invest in protecting him. The Jaguars have struggled up front for years, and while the interior of the line is solid with Brandon Linder and Andrew Norwell, right tackle is shaky. Jawaan Taylor should step in and immediately start for the Jags as they try to rebuild from a miserable 2018 campaign.
If the skill-position players were better in this draft, Jacksonville could go that route, but with this class, tackle is the easy answer.
If the Detroit Lions ever plan on winning anything with quarterback Matthew Stafford at the helm — we mean even a single playoff game — it’s time to rebuild the offense. With Kenny Golladay and Kerryon Johnson already in the fold, General Manager Bob Quinn would be wise to nab Iowa tight end T.J. Hockenson here. It’s telling that Quinn tried to trade for Rob Gronkowski a year ago, although Gronk refused to report, blocking the deal.
Hockenson starred for the Hawkeyes alongside Noah Fant. While Detroit fans might have the feeling of deja vu with memories of Brandon Pettigrew and Eric Ebron, Hockenson should finally be the answer. It would be very tough for Quinn to pass him up at this spot.
