After disturbing audio featuring wide receiver Tyreek Hill was released by the media Thursday night, the Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement saying they will make the right decision.

The Tyreek Hill situation has taken yet another turn. After video surfaced on a Kansas City news station depicting Hill and his fiancée Crystal Espinal discussing the treatment of Hill’s son, the Chiefs broke their silence with a statement on Friday afternoon.

“We were made aware of the audio between Tyreek and Crystal. We were made aware of the information in real time, just like the general public. We were deeply disturbed and concerned by what we heard. We have great concern for Crystal, we are greatly concerned for Tyreek, but our main concern is with the young child.”

“We decided at this time and for the foreseeable future, Tyreek Hill will not take part in any team activities. We are going to gather more information, we are going to evaluate this information, and we will make the right decision regarding Tyreek Hill.”

The Chiefs haven’t announced any game suspensions at this point, but the statement makes it clear that they are disturbed by the contents of the video, particularly what was said in reference to Hill’s son.

The NFL has yet to weigh in on the matter publicly, but a video that has drawn as much heat as this one has can’t be ignored for too long. While local officials declined to press charges against Hill due to a lack of evidence, the mere allegations that Hill broke his three-year-old son’s arm could lead the league to consider it a violation of the personal conduct policy.

This isn’t new for Hill, who has a history of domestic violence issues, or the Chiefs. Kansas City cut running back Kareem Hunt, who is now a member of the Cleveland Browns, last season when a video surfaced of him punching and kicking a woman at a hotel during the previous offseason.

It is too early to say whether the same fate will befall Hill, but the fact that Kansas City has already suspended the receiver from team activities and commented on how disturbed they were by the video makes it a strong possibility, if not a certainty.
