“The Long Night” was one of the best episodes in Game of Thrones history and the internet delivered with some truly great memes.

As great as the 82-minutes of “The Long Night” was, scrolling through Twitter for the best Game of Thrones memes on Sunday night was pretty fun too.

How about that surprise return of Melisandre?

Jon and Dany sure did have to brave the elements.

This would be somewhat frustrating for Jon.

Arya had a hell of a 24 hours.

And how about this reference to Lord of the Rings?

One of the greatest versions of this video that originally came from the World Cup.

Everyone knew the crypts weren’t safe heading into this episode.

Lyanna Mormont took down the reanimated version of Wun Wun, the last Giant, with a spear through his other eye. She like, Tormund, are giant killers.

Also, with Jorah dying to protect Daenerys, House Mormont is gone forever.

Jon Snow had to be aggrieved when this happened, again.

The callback to Syrio in season 1 gave me goosebumps.

RIP to these real ones.

Seriously, Arya jumping into the shot with the Night King’s back to her left me shook.

The Dothraki were so overrated. Khal Drogo wouldn’t have let this happen.

Throwback to the OG Game of Thrones meme.

Sam had his hands full trying to stay alive. He’s gotten braver over the years, but he’s still not a great warrior. But living is what’s important.

Jaime Lannister needs to retire this nickname.

The Bird Box memes are back!

One of the things fans didn’t love about the episode was how dark it was. Literally. Not the dark themes, but literally how hard it was to see.

Look how young these babies are! They grew up before our eyes.

For a second, I thought there was going to be a Romeo and Juliet moment here.

Lyanna became a fan favorite overnight while Arya has been one since the beginning. It’s too bad we didn’t get to see more of them together.

While everyone was fighting the Army of the Dead, Bran was chilling by a tree.

The Lord of Light kept bringing Beric back for a reason. It was to protect Arya. RIP the voice of God.

Death by friend zone. For real, this one hurt the most, especially when Drogon comforted Dany after Jorah died.

Who had the last laugh though?!

Dany fought like a true warrior with the sword in her hand.

There was one notable absence from The Long Night. Cersei was sipping her wine while Jaime and Tyrion were among those fighting for survival in the Great War.

Fans were worried Ghost died in the battle. But don’t worry, the best good boy in Westeros is alive.

The Night King failed in the clutch and got the Crying Jordan treatment.

And then he got the “blew a 28-3 lead” in reference to the Falcons blowing their Super Bowl lead vs. the Patriots.

Emotions were frazzled after it ended.

Next. Does Arya kill Cersei?. dark
