Auburn. Derrick Brown. 8. player. 28. . Defensive Tackle

The Oakland Raiders were the subject of a ton of draft rumors heading into the 2019 NFL Draft, as many expected they would replace quarterback Derek Carr. However, the Raiders decided to not only pass on a quarterback, but they passed on one three times, as they held three first round picks.

That was a smart move for the franchise, as Carr is a very good quarterback, and the team brought in some solid weapons to put around him in 2019. In addition, he will finally be playing in the same offense for the second straight season, so it will be interesting to see how well he does in year two in Jon Gruden’s offense.

Looking at the talent they brought in via the NFL Draft,  the Raiders filled a lot of holes, and the roster is finally starting to get some depth. In 2020, Oakland will have two first round picks, as they still get compensation from the Chicago Bears for trading them Khalil Mack, and with the first one, they could target Derrick Brown.

Sure, Oakland has some young talent at the defensive tackle position, but Brown is a solid player, and it could make Justin Ellis expendable next offseason. Oakland is building this thing the right way, and some have even started speaking of them as a potential playoff team, even in 2019. If that happens, this pick will be much later.
