Brock Lesnar’s career in the UFC may have come to a close but his ties to WWE have yet to be severed.

What’s going on with Brock Lesnar?

The former Universal Champion dropped his title to Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 35 and it seemed he’d be headed back to the UFC for a blockbuster match against heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.

Now, it appears as though Lesnar has retired from the Octagon. UFC President Dana White spoke with ESPN.com about the situation stating: “Brock Lesnar told me he’s done. He’s retiring.”

So where does that leave Lesnar?

Well, his ties to WWE haven’t quite dissolved as some might have thought. Coming on the heels of Lesnar’s announcement of retirement from UFC, the WWE announced their return to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia with Lesnar as part of the June 7 card.

Coincidence? Maybe. Other big names linked to the Saudi Arabia card include The Undertaker and Goldberg, both of whom aren’t active competitors. Though no matches have been announced as of this writing, Lesnar has rich history with both men.

This could be a one-off appearance for Lesnar with WWE, or he could make one last run with the company until WrestleMania 36 in Tampa, after which he has said he wants to finish up his wrestling career.

If Lesnar does return to the WWE for another run who does he face? The obvious choice is the man who took the Universal Title off him, Rollins. To his credit, Rollins has stated he’s open for a rematch with Lesnar.

"“While Brock Lesnar is living and breathing he is most certainly a capable challenger for the Universal Championship. I beat him once so I’m not afraid to giving it another shot. I would definitely be open to giving him a rematch even though I do know what’s at stake if he were to beat me.”"

Then there’s Matt Riddle. A former MMA fighter in his own right, Riddle has gone on record stating he wants to be the man who retires Lesnar from pro wrestling for good.

There’s a lot of options if Lesnar wants to return to WWE. But only “The Beast” knows for sure what his future plans are.
