Ajax face Tottenham at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Wednesday, May 8. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

Despite not having bought a single player since the end of last season, Spurs are almost certain of Champions League qualification going into the last match of the Premier League campaign and are in the midst of their first European Cup/Champions League semifinal since the early 1960s.

So it’s perhaps a little rough on Tottenham that aside from Rotterdam, Eindhoven and a pocket of north London, pretty much the entire world will be rooting for Ajax here. The reason for this, of course, is that Erik ten Hag’s side have been playing some beguiling soccer since way back in the qualifying rounds during July and August, and have then proceeded to take things to another level in the knock-out stages.

While ten Hag was wholly entitled to point out in the run-up to the first leg that Spurs earn close to 15 times more from the Premier League’s TV deal than Ajax do in the Eredivisie, there’s more to this than just an underdog narrative.

Above all, a clash between Ajax and Barcelona in the final would be fascinating from a tactical point of view, not least because the Dutch side have been far easier on the eye than the Spanish champions this season.
