Welcome to NASCAR DFS Pit Stop for Friday’s Gander Outdoors Truck Series race from Kansas Speedway! This week there will be very little lineup variation when it comes to the truck series with only 28 drivers entered in this race. It may come down to which bottom priced driver you use that could separate from the field.

With the exception of Johnny Sauter ($11,000) pricing is relatively soft in my opinion this week with only 2 drivers, besides Sauter, in the $10K range and 3 more over $9K. Last year this race dominated by now Xfinity Series regular Noah Gragson who will not be in this race, but the #18 truck he drove to victory will be driven by Harrison Burton Friday night and will be a favorite to run up front, and maybe win.

Stewart Friesen finished 3rd last year and was the highest finishing current truck series driver in that race. This should be a very clean race like last year where we only had two non-stage caution flags, one for debris and the other for the #54 spinning out late in the race. One interesting thing I did notice about last years race was that only 9 cars finished on the lead lap.

NASCAR DFS – Leaders of the Pack

Johnny Sauter ($11,000)

2019 Avg Finish: 7.7

Sauter is coming off his victory of the season in Dover last week and will be a heavy favorite this week again as he is one of only 2 drivers in this field to have a win in Kansas (Matt Crafton). After a poor 23rd place finish, Sauter has reeled off 5 straight top 10’s and will almost certainly keep that streak alive this week.

Ben Rhodes ($10,200)

2019 Avg Finish: 10.3

After a slow start to the season with only one top 10 in the first 3 races, Rhodes has 3 straight top tens. Last week in Dover Rhodes led only 13 laps but did manage a positive 5 place differential with a 6th place finish. Rhodes is my dark horse winner pick this week, but don’t hold me to that until after practice and qualifying today.

Other Options:  Stewart Friesen ($9,700)

NASCAR DFS – Middle of the Pack

Ross Chastain ($9,100)

2019 Avg Finish: 6.7

Another Truck Series race and another top 10 for Ross Chastain. We have run 6 truck series races this season and Chastain has 6 top 10’s, the only full-time driver to have a top 10 in all 6 races this season. Chastain is desperate for a win though and with such a small field this week this may be Chastain’s best chance.

Grant Enfinger ($8,600)

2019 Avg Finish: 5.2

Enfinger might be having the best season of all Truck Series drivers and nobody is paying attention to him. In 6 races this season, Enfinger has 5 top 10’s (an 11th place finish is his only non top 10) and also has 4 top 5 finishes as well. After Sauter, I think Enfinger is my next top play this week.

Todd Gilliland ($8,300)

2019 Avg Finish: 13.2

Gilliland and the #4 KBM Toyota has 3 straight top 15’s but should be better than that. Last season Gilliland finished with 9 top 10’s and 4 top 5’s and had an average finish of 12.5, but with only 2 top 10’s and zero top 5’s Gilliland has seen his average finish drop to 13.2. Maybe this week is his break out week and he pulls off a nice top 5 finish. I will wait for qualifying before I decide if I want to use Gilliland though.

Other Options : Harrison Burton ($8,500), Riley Herbst ($8,100), Tyler Dippel ($7,800)

NASCAR DFS – Back of the Pack

Tyler Ankrum ($7,100)

2019 Avg Finish: 11.3

Ankrum has only run in 3 races this season, but has 2 straight top 10’s. Last week Ankrum finished 9th at Dover and is now averaging 38 DKFP per race in his last 2 races.

Below I will give you my two favorite salary relief plays, but these could change depending on where they end up qualifying .

1 – Jordan Anderson ($6,000) – Averages 22.4 DKFP per race this season

2 – Natalie Decker ($5,900) – Decker has back to back top 20 finishes and picked up 30 DKFP in each of those 2 races

3 – Jennifer Jo Cobb ($5,800) – Has finished better than her qualifying position in all 4 races she has started this season.
