As the 2019 college football season gets closer, FOX has made a bold move to change up their broadcasting strategy, moving the game of the week up to noon.

The 2019 college football season is just a few months away, and FOX has made an interesting decision to alter the way they schedule their broadcasts. Normally, for any league, the best games on the schedule fall into mid-afternoon slot at 3:30 p.m. ET or the 8 p.m. primetime slot. However, FOX has decided to switch it up and feature their best games of the week at the noon time slot.

Because FOX has the first privileges of televising some of the most exciting battles in the Big Ten and Big 12, all those “prime time” matchups will now be played at noon. While some may raise their eyebrows at this move, it seems as if FOX is trying a new strategy to get these games even more attention.

If FOX continued to keep broadcasting their best games at the prime time night slot, it would continue to be in heavy competition with ESPN/ABC’s games of the week. While some may not agree with this, ABC’s game of the week will often times appear more exciting to watchers who aren’t fans of any of the teams playing.

Over the years, ESPN has built up quite the reputation with their wonderful broadcasting team, and it seems as if FOX is done trying to compete with them to be kings of that time slot.

Now that they will feature their best games at the noon slot, it will unquestionably dominate that time slot. Because most games at noon on ESPN or other networks are not usually particularly exciting matchups. This should provide more exposure for their game of the week without as much competition from the competition. They can keep airing Indiana vs. Rutgers while FOX can counter with a matchup like Michigan vs. Ohio State.

With ESPN/ABC remaining as the kings of college’s football primetime slot, FOX has moved on to a new strategy. Will it work? Time will only tell.
