Here’s why Daenerys arrested Tyrion in the series finale of Game of Thrones.

Tyrion flirted with disaster one too many times and the last time was the one that cost him the most. He was arrested by his Queen in the series finale of Game of Thrones in a move that die-hard fans could see coming for weeks.

Tyrion committed open treason when he revealed the secret of Jon’s true parentage to Varys who then went directly to Jon to urge him to be the King the realm so desperately needs. He resigned from his post as the Hand of the Queen and was taken into custody on charges of treason.

Dany told him in the penultimate episode that if he betrayed her again, it would be the last. Sure enough, Tyrion didn’t seem too dismayed by the threat from the Mother of Dragons because he betrayed her by releasing his brother, Jaime Lannister, from her custody.

He freed his brother just as Jaime did for Tyrion in season 4. He wanted Tyrion to get Cersei out of King’s Landing and head for Pentos where he, she and their unborn baby could start a new life together.

In many ways, Tyrion is lucky he didn’t suffer the same fate as Varys who was executed by dragon after Tyrion snitched on him to Dany. In the process, he snitched on himself too, but Dany was already pretty much certain everyone who professed their loyalty to her had betrayed her.

Dany has passed the point of return and without Jorah and Missandei by her side to provide some common sense, rational thought and the ability to talk some sense into her, she just won’t listen to anyone else.

It will come back to haunt Dany who can’t outrun her father’s legacy and distance herself from the Targaryen curse.
