Indiana – Rod Woodson
Like their neighbor (in location, and in alphabetical order) Illinois, Indiana has produced some impressive talent over the years, including players like Jeff George, Tom Harmon and others. Rod Woodson easily fits into this group of players and was a standout athlete at a very young age.
He was an All-American in both his high school junior and senior years and was a top recruit when he chose to sign with Purdue in 1983. Woodson had 11 career interceptions in his time with the Boilermakers and was an incredibly fast player on the field. He was also an NCAA record holder in the 60- and 110-meter hurdles in his time at Purdue.
Woodson not only made a large impact defensively; he was also a solid special teams’ player as he racked up over 1,700 yards as a punt and kick returner over the course of his years at Purdue. In his time there, he finished with eleven interceptions, returned for three touchdowns and a total of almost 300 yards.
Woodson was eventually selected as the No. 10 overall pick in a loaded 1987 NFL Draft and would go on to have a Hall of Fame career in the NFL.
