Texas – Vince Young

As arguably the football capital of the world, the Lonestar state has produced a plethora of college football talent, likely only rivaled by fellow Florida and California for producing talent. and Southeastern giants. The state has produced Doak Walker, Earl Campbell, Adrian Peterson, Andrew Luck, Johnny Manziel and Eric Dickerson, but it’s Vince Young who gets the nomination.

Recently elected as a member of the College Football Hall of Fame, the Houston native rewrote the record books during his time as the quarterback at Texas. He won every award in 2005 besides the Heisman which went to Reggie Bush, when he led Texas to the national championship with a last-second touchdown run to beat Bush’s USC Trojans.

Young went on to be the No. 3 pick in the NFL Draft, one pick behind Bush, and won the NFL Rookie of the Year in 2006 with the Tennessee Titans. Though he never quite maintained that success or matched the highs of his college career with the Longhorns, Young is the greatest college football player to hail from the Lone Star State.
