Wyoming – Jack Snow

Last but certainly not least, unless you’re going by population, wherein it actually is the least populated state, is Wyoming. Jack Snow, a Notre Dame wide receiver from Rock Springs, lands the final honor on our list.

Though he only caught 10 passes for 128 yards between his sophomore and junior seasons, Snow developed quickly and was a consensus All-American for the Irish during his senior year in 1964, and hauled in 60 passes for 1,114 yards and nine touchdowns, setting a school record in every single one of those categories. In that same season, he finished fifth in the voting for the Heisman Trophy, behind his own quarterback and the eventual winner John Huarte.

Snow also set a school record with 1,242 career receiving yards for the Fighting Irish and was a part of the 1964 offense that produced 27 team and individual records, contributing five of his own. In his time as a dynamic receiver for the Fighting Irish, Snow also averaged nearly 37 yards of return per kick in 1964 as the team’s punter.

Snow would go on to a lasting NFL career after being picked with the No. 8 pick in the NFL Draft in 1965 and would play the entirety of his career with the Los Angeles Rams, despite being drafted initially by the San Diego Chargers.
