5 players who Browns need to be great in 2019
4. Odell Beckham Jr., Wide receiver
In 10 years, you will remember where you were when New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman shocked the NFL world by sending superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the Browns.
While most of the world had their noises buried in free agency, Dorsey landed the most premier player available this past offseason. Beckham takes what was a solid offense in 2018 and makes it an elite unit, and he will be paired with college teammate Jarvis Landry at the receiver position.
Landry played decently last season as the team’s number-one wide receiver. However, without any other major threats, defenses often times neutralized him and had perhaps one of his worst seasons since his rookie year in 2014.
With Beckham, he can open things up underneath and blow the top off of opposing defenses late in games, which is why he is so important to the Browns and Mayfield.
Last year, Beckham caught 77 passes for 1,052 yards and six touchdowns in only 12 games. This year, he has to be that dynamic, big play receiver for Mayfield.
The potential this offense has with Beckham in the fold is through the roof. When healthy, he is a lock for 90+ catches, 1,300+ receiving yards and 10+ touchdowns. He needs to be great not only for himself, but to keep defenses far more honest and make things easier for Mayfield, Landry and company in 2019.
