Terrelle Pryor is becoming well-traveled, and his next opportunity will come with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Terrelle Pryor resurfaced in the news on Wednesday, as he worked out for the Jacksonville Jaguars. On Thursday morning, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Jacksonville is expected to sign the quarterback-turned-wide receiver.

Pryor spent last season with the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets, with 16 catches for 252 yards and two touchdowns over eight total games. Before that he had an injury-plagued season with the Washington Redskins in 2017 (20 catches in nine games).

Pryor started his NFL career as a quarterback for the Oakland Raiders. He started nine games and had over 2,300 total yards in 2013.

Pryor made the full switch to wide receiver upon landing with the Cleveland Browns in 2015, and had a breakout season in 2016 with 77 receptions for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns. That production is even more impressive considering the crew of quarterbacks the Browns had that season (Cody Kessler, Robert Griffin III, Josh McCown combining to start all 16 games, with Kevin Hogan and Charlie Whitehurst seeing some action).

Current Jaguars offensive coordinator John DeFilippo was Cleveland’s offensive coordinator in 2015, so Pryor should have some familiarity with the playbook.

The Jaguars have depth at wide receiver, with Marqise Lee, Dede Westbrook, Keelan Cole, Chris Conley and D.J. Chark the most notable names. But Lee missed all of last year with a knee injury, and is not expected to be ready until late in the preseason.

Pryor is one of two players in NFL history with a 1,000-yard season as a passer and receiver (Marlin Briscoe is the other, with the Broncos in 1968 and the Bills in 1970).

If only based on the numbers of guys he’ll be competing with, Pryor has an uphill climb to win a job in Jacksonville. But there isn’t so much talent already in place that he can’t get it done, and if it doesn’t work out he can put something on preseason tape to garner interest from other teams.
