This offseason the Jaguars lost T.J. Yeldon to the Bills in free agency, meaning they also lost their only excellent pass-catching back. Fournette can catch passes, but it is something he has to continue improving at. He is more effective as a two-down back who can punish the defense, catching the occasional pass out of the backfield.

Although the team signed Alfred Blue, he never caught many passes in Houston. Both he and recently drafted rookie Ryquell Armstead profile as backups to Fournette, or options to spell him if he needs a breather. The team has no apparent option to serve as a third-down specialist, which is why Duke Johnson would be an excellent fit. Not only would it add a wrinkle to an offense in desperate need of innovation – it would also keep Fournette healthier.

Though many fantasy owners of Fournette would like to see him stay on the field for all three downs, he has proven he cannot stay healthy under that heavy of a workload. Both he and the offense as a whole would benefit hugely from the talents Duke Johnson brings.
